With us, you benefit from reliable self-storage insurance in our storage rooms for a property value of up to 5,000 euros. No bureaucratic hurdles stand in your way. Protect your stored items from damage, theft, and elemental damage with an inventory insurance.

Is there insurance for self-storage?

Our locations in Braunschweig are generally insured against adverse weather conditions and natural disasters up to a total value of 5,000 euros. When you sign a storage unit rental agreement with LAGER-EIN.de, your stored items are covered for damages caused by:

  • Fire
  • Lightning strikes
  • Explosion
  • Implosion
  • Impact or fall of an aircraft, its parts, or its cargo
  • Burglary
  • Vandalism after a break-in
  • Robbery
  • Water damage
  • Storm, hail, and elemental damages

What is not insured?

However, it’s important to note that not all items are covered by self-storage insurance. Often, the items mentioned are also not protected by home insurance. These include:

  • Cash and amounts loaded on money cards
  • Certificates, including savings books and other securities
  • Jewelry, gemstones, pearls, stamps, coins, and medals, as well as all items made of silver, gold, or platinum
  • Furs, hand-knotted carpets, and tapestries
  • Artifacts (e.g., paintings, collages, drawings, graphics, or sculptures)
  • Firearms
  • Optical devices (cameras, video cameras, etc.)
  • Items older than 100 years (antiques), except for furniture

Did you know?

If your stored items pose a danger, such as waste, hazardous materials, perishable goods, food, drugs, plants, animals, or weapons, you are not allowed to store them with us. It goes without saying that these items are also not insured.

Where can you get self-storage insurance?

The basic insurance coverage, up to a value of 5,000 euros, is included in your storage unit contract. However, it's advisable to check your home insurance policy first. Some insurers provide coverage for items stored externally.

Do you need to insure your stored items?

If the transport insurance or home insurance doesn't cover the protection of your stored items, you should consider additional insurance. This is particularly important for valuable items, company property, documents, and machinery, especially during long-term storage. We are happy to provide guidance on insurance-related questions.

Does home insurance cover storage?

Generally, home insurance covers everything inside the house and apartment. Different rules and deadlines apply to items outside your property.

Some insurers may cover home contents for up to twelve months outside the house if the insurance sum is limited, and your belongings are stored in a self-storage facility. It’s advisable to clarify this with your insurance provider to ensure that your stored items are adequately protected.
